Im a senior in high school and I smoke about a half a pack a day. 2 of my teachers have made comments to the class but not directly towards me about how it smells like smoke in the room. Are they required to tell the principal or anyone if they know a student smokes?

Any decent teacher should ASSUME that some of their HS kids are smoking.........or come from a household in which parents smoke....thus the smoke smell...........

What they do OFF school grounds is their business, no matter how self-damaging it might be.

Once a year I give the "broken glass" speech just to let them know that I am worried about them smoking....it goes something like this:
"Lemme ask you all a question...if a new cereal came out and it was called, 'Frosted shards of glass...now with MORE sugar', would you eat it?"
Of course they answer no.
Then I ask them " what about this...would you drink a soda called, 'Coke 4.....now with Cyanide!"???
They answer no.
Ask them WHY they wouldnt consume these products......the answer, "Cuz it would kill you"

Then I hit them with, t"hen why do teens smoke? That kills you too, just a lot slower. Is that it...that Coke 4 will kill you on the spot, but cigs wont...so you take the chance?"

Dont sweat your smoke smell. Tell them, if they do confront you, "Thanks, but its really my problem.....not yours..."

You shouldnt smoke....no one should....I do....but I shouldnt....Im shaving years off years of my life.......its stupid and a waste of $.

A good teacher will always talk to their students about the harm smoking could cause.

Megan, you should really try to quit. I mean TODAY. There are SO many ways that smoking tobacco is bad for you and for those around you and for your pocket book. I mean really. . .

I used to smoke so I know how hard it is to quit, but I DID IT. So can you.

DO NOT SMOKE POT. That is an ORDER!! This is your substitute mother speaking!

Yes if the school regulation prohibits smoking you are in trouble if the principal learns about it.
