I need to come up with an idea for a play for my elementary students to perform in for our end of the year presentation. We have usually done 45-60 minute plays like Snow White, and the Wizard of Oz. However, due to copyrights and low funding, we need to create our own play and music. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

have you ever heard of playmaking, a creative dramatics technique that dramatises storyies? it is easy to do and fun as well. Look for booktitles of playmaking.

Why don't you do an old fable? Or you could do something that relates to the environment and the world. Come up with some main characters who travel in order to save the earth.

Of course you could also look up on line royalty free plays. You wouldn't have to pay to use the play. You could do a twist on a Shakespeare play If you did something like Midsummer Nights Dream and changed it to deal with the environment that might be quite interesting.
