I am having a home built and the company uses G.E . I have a G.E Profile double electric oven; it was delivered and the motherboard has to be replaced. The builders say that replacing the motherboard is okay and we will still have a warranty; I say give me a new oven. I go to closing on the 16 Nov 07.

I worked in this industry and GE only has a duty to replace the defective motherboard via the warranty, not replace the oven. To remove the double oven and replace with a new unit is totally unnecessary when a new electronic board will fix the problem. As a side note, the warranty I believe is effective from the day you move in, not the day installed by the builder. Just get it fixed and be glad it didn't go out a week after the warranty expired.

A replacement motherboard will make the appliance like new, since it IS new, and the only defect is the motherboard. As long as the original warranty remains in place, you should have no issues.

Demand a brand new one. If the motherboard is defective then what else on that unit is defective?
