I am 77. A younger and bigger man told me that his son was a highway patrolman and was going to do a complete background check on me. Him and his buddy then made a false statrment that I tried to run him down. I found out that he has no son on the Highway patrol. How can I stop this type of abuse?

Both of these gentleman have good advice if staying away doesn't work, I would suggest an attorney. If you are not ready for that route, document every time that they have contact with you and try to have someone witness the contact. That way if you need to call the police you have a record of harassment. It would also benefit you to make a police report when he harasses you to show how often, and that way his lies won't hold water. I wish you luck with this. I will pray for you that you stay safe from this person.I wish I had better advice for you as I know this really doesn't help.

First, he is a bully and he enjoys doing this. Second, if he is repeatedly contacting you, he is looking for money from you.

Contact an attorney in you home town and ask him to send a "demand letter" to this guy for you. Demand letters are what attorneys use to threaten someone with legal actions. Most people immediately stop playing the bully when an attorney is involved. Those that do not are the type of people with whom you will need an attorney anyway.

You're from my father's generation. Your generation does not consult attorneys unless they have to do so. My generation does. This guy will probably fold like a cheap card table if challenged.

By the way, I've never known a law enforcement agency that could do a "complete background check." I used to work in a Clerk of Court's records room. The FBI's NCIC database (which the police use) is notoriously wrong.

Stay away from them. Don't be a part of their lives. Ignore. They will probably go away.
