What is the chemical that is dangerous?

I heard its a date rape drug, what does date rape drugs mean/do?

Several children in Australia and the US have fallen into coma's.Some have died. Calling it a date rape drug is doing a dis-service to the children who at risk.

Rohypnol (flunitrazepam)
Ketamine (ketamine hydrochloride)
Although we use the term "date rape," most experts prefer the term "drug-facilitated sexual assault." These drugs have been used to help people commit other crimes, like robbery and physical assault, and have been used on both men and women.

The drugs can affect you quickly. The length of time that the effects last varies. It depends on how much of the drug is taken and if the drug is mixed with other substances, like alcohol. Alcohol can worsen the drug's effects and can cause more health problems. Also, one drug — GHB — can be made by people in their homes, so you don't know what's in it.

GHB is fast acting, tasteless, and dangerous. It can cause a blackout within 60 seconds of consumption. You're completely passed out, hence it's attractiveness as a date rape drug for losers who can't get a date. Slip a little in the girl's drink, and when she slides to the floor, do what you will. She will wake feeling supremely drugged, extremely sluggish, limbs heavy like lead, and with the feeling like something is terribly wrong, like she should scream and run for help, but is unable to do so.

The way I heard it on the news was that it didn't have GHB in it but when whatever is in it turns into GHB when it metabolizes.
