funded by feds. Actually in more ways than one. It is a high paying job with lots of health issues. Those that are military controllers trained by the Air Force seldom stay more than one hitch. They get the training and get out for the big bucks.

im pretty sure it is partially funded by the federal government and regulated by them but i think the airline companies fund some of it too.
