So, Creative Writing AND Photography weren't available. I took Journalism. Good choice, eh?

We learn how to manipulate people, how to act like a person's "best friend" when interviewing them, pretty much being a liar.

Anyway, you can't do any creative writing in your articles WHATSOEVER, other than the lead. It annoys me to death! It's all, "he said / she said."

...and we have to interview people and I'm shy... This is great, right?

What do YOU think about Journalism?

Journalism is one of my favorite classes. Although it seems mine is a bit different from yours. We never learned how to minipulte anyone and also it's encouraged that we be as creative as possible when we write. Except, we do have to do the stupid "said" thing. That kinda makes me mad, because it gets boring.

I'm also not a huge fan of interviews. lol. I was actually voted as the quietest person in my whole class. I guess that tells you how shy I am. ^_^

The main thing I like about the class is that I've always been good at writing stuff. Speech class and creative writing were always my top grades. Plus, our teacher is really fun and let's us joke aroung.

When I was doing career counseling, I always encouraged students to double major if they did journalism--such as political science, science, psychology, etc. That way they have a bit of expertise in a substantive area--this also gives a journalism major more flexibility upon graduation. Are you still in school--can you add another major? BTW, there's a lot of creative writing--you can aim toward feature writing, which can open up (nesides newspapers) magazine and other media, including new media.

I think that you do not understand journalism too well,

The following were journalists

Elijah Lovejoy

Samuel Clemens

Jacob Riis

HL Mencken

Waller Winchell

Erie Pyle

Winston Churchill

There were many other famous journalists. Many journalist used journalism as political or social weapons to galvanize people into action. Read the biographies of people above.

I think you have already decided how YOU feel about Journalism, so, why does anybody elses opinion, pro OR con, matter? You chose poorly, if you wanted courses that focused on creativity.
