Sometimes you cannot recieve the signals very well like if you are in a basement or something. Why? What is the reason for this?

Your cell phone is a radio transmitter and receiver. Think about how radio waves propagate. They attenuate with distance. They reflect from conductors. They are absorbed by many materials. Other transmitters can cause interference.

It depends where your cell phone towers are for your cell. The farther you get obvioulsy the worse your signal is. And the more stuff blocking your area the worse the signal is.

cause you are too far from a call tower or in a metal building/tunnel
