You can take 8 at my school if you don't have a lunch. Most people aren't that insane though. It's nice to give yourself some wriggle room for study halls. Take all your req's (Math, science, English, Social Studies), gym if it's required, and then an elective or two. It's nice to get annoying classes like health or gym , if you take it fewer than all four years, out of the way when you're younger. But remember, if you want to do band, chorus or art, there may be prerequisite classes you'll need to take your first year so you can take others.

I'm finished school but last year, Physics defeated me. I had to drop down from Honours to Pass. I ended up getting an 84 in the Leaving Cert though, thank Jebus. Secondary school was hard in general.. 5th and 6th year were 4-6 hours of homework a night and about 12 hours on the weekend. I am so glad it's over. O_O

It will depend on your school
It will probably be number of classes per day
such as my daughters is 8 per semester
most school only offer semester long classes now
you can call them and ask if you are not enrolled there yet
Each state differs on the number of credits needed to graduate.

Most schools allow four or five major subjects, Another period is for lunch and another is for PE. That leaves seven periods in the usual eight period day. One more period is usually devoted to a minor subject such as Art or Music.

Typically, in a semester, it is around 6.
However, it depends on all schools because they may go by trimesters and quarters.
