The Police were found guilty of unlawfully killing someone........Why is it that the people who shot the innocent man seven times in the head have not been charged with manslaughter...or are the Police above the law

EDIT.I ask this question because a while back a bloke, laying naked in his bed was shot to death,by the Police.......who it turned out were at the wrong address.and no-one was charged with anything at that time either...so it appears that the police ARE above the law.

Some here are so unbelievably naive and ignorant.

The guy was NOT wearing a rucksack....nor was he an illegal immigrant. He was here legally and worked as an electrician.

The police did not issue a warning for him to stop - as witnesses stated this in court nor was the guy acting suspiciously.

The fire-arms unit were clearly out of control and these people are specially trained - there is no room for "in the heat of the moment" when it could've been anyone of us sitting in a seat being blasted to death.

The above is not my answer to what happened, this comes from those that were there....they are called witnesses.

I only hope this never happens to anyone of us or a relative - since I don't believe for one moment some would be considering it as 'just one of those things'.

SHAME on you!

Why don't we try soldiers on the front line for murder in a civilian court?

Why not get a manslaughter charge for a fireman who rescued three people from a burning building, but couldn't go back for the fourth who died?

Why dont we try and convict doctors or nurses of manslaughter when patients die, even if they have tried their best?

Why don't we just arrest all the armed response police now, because they are bound to point a gun at someone again?

Or what about MI5 and 6? They haven't always been successful! Lets hang em all, sod the trial!

AND IN CASE YOU COULDN'T TELL, YES ALL OF THE ABOVE WAS SARCASM!!!!!

It is easy to spend months picking apart a split second decision after the event, with the benefit of hindsight.

Yes sometimes mistakes are made, but EVERYone makes mistakes at some point. Nothing is perfect. Do we really crucify everyone for this? What about the 9.9 times out of ten things go right, and all of the above examples protect society and people like you.

Yes there needs to be accountability, but at what cost? Any of the above examples are heroes, they go into situations with the best of intentions and with the belief that they are protecting society or helping someone. They do not go into a situation and say oh well, we know hes innocent but lets shoot him anyway. Can you really be that naive? I know I have widened the parameters a little but the examples hold the same principle. I think people who think like you should wave their right to protection from the police and military or security services, and for those people who sue or go after doctors and nurses should waive their right to ANY treatment ever. Its as simple as that. You'll soon be begging for a return to the way things are now, believe me.

I am afraid the Police always get away with these cases, as they all stick together, and back each other up. There is a case in England at the moment, whereby the police shot dead an innocent unarmed man on a train, after wrongfully identifying him as a terrorist. They followed him from his home, and yet waited until he boarded a crowded train before shooting him. There has been so many lies, and cover up's, and unbelievable botch up's, but at the end of the day, whoever was responsible, will walk away without a blemish.

A major **** up by the security services, i don't think you can blame the guys who pulled the triggers, but a lesson must be learnt that this should never happen again, and before an officer pulls the trigger, the intelligence should be 100% realiable. Bearing in mind that at the time we had innocent members of the public blown up by these exstemist murderers, and the security services were on red alert, mistakes were made, lets make sure they are not repeated.

The police are there to uphold the law. I was not there at the time to form a just and accurate opinion. The man was carrying a rucksack. a bomb had previously gone off, he looked suspicious, (probably being an illegal immigrant) Refused to stop when challenged . The police had to act quickly and shot him. If he had in fact been a terrorists with a bomb and innocent people had been killed and the police had done nothing they would have been accused of allowing murder to happen. Imagine yourself in a situation where you have to make a split second life or death decision. Not easy my friend.i

Is this the guy they chased down because he was mistaken for a terrorist in U.K.? If so, why did he ACT so guilty? This could have turned out differently if he just stopped like the police told him. Dumb and Tragic situation here.

Don't know what state you are talking about. In Nevada we have a law that identifies a crime called "oppression under color of office". It's a felony. Three ex-police officers are serving three to seven years for beating up a vagrant.

If you start punishing police officers for something that at the time was done in the line of duty then society would crumble.

Its easy to read "shot seven times in the head" and think omg!!! but i'm sure it was a very different scenario to the people involved... real life is not like int he movies where the guy with the gun is as cool as ice and in full control of the situation.

they were trying to protect the public - why should they be charged?

people make mistakes - hard i know in this case but I'm sure it wasn't murder and in the heat of the moment in a heightened state of terrorist activity it is possible for an incident like this to happen

the police are the servants of the law...........it is their job to try to keep the law - i don't know what would keep some people happy..........

Excuse me, but you said that they were found guilty of a crime. Why would they then be charged with another essentially similar crime for the same incident?
