My hubby DID NOT want to see a thing! He thought he would be behind a curtain or just wouldn't even look down there...
Little did he know he would be holding my leg, pushing buttons on the blood pressure machine (he was right beside it), and picking up my catheter hose when the nurse dropped it near the babies crowning head (the Drs hand were kinda busy!)
We joked about it after and he said it was not what he expected and he would watch it all over again!
All your hubby needs to do is help you! Tell him not to worry about what to say or do. He will be just fine!

Tell him from a woman who has had five children, not to worry. It will all come to him natuarlly. There is not much for him to do anyway but cut the cord once the baby has been born. As long as he is by your side giving you the moral support that you need all will be okay. Tell him to relax and enjoy the experience.

Tell him to obey your every move. I told my husband to shut up when he was trying to help me count how long to push. I didn't want him to count, only the nurses. The nurses will guide your husband what to do. The men get it easy, you'll be doing all the work. He just needs to be ready for your mood swings and be willing to say "Yes, Dear" a lot.

tell him to not expect to help out a ton other than to make you feel calm. i don't expect my husband to do anything other than maybe tell me i'll get through it.
let him know that you know he isn't a nurse and won't know what to do regarding the labor, just tell him to try to talk you through it and calm you down. also, if he really wants to get involved, have him do an internet search on different positions you could lay in during labor in order to be more comfortable. there are a lot of positions you can move in to possibly feel more comfortable.

All he needs to do is be there for you, Hun. To do whatever YOU want him to do! He will be just fine. As to what to say, everything positive 'don't worry hunny, it'll be over soon', 'wait til we see our beautiful baby' breath hunny, just breath' and so on.
Here's a website I found about guys in the delivery room > http://www.thenewhomemaker.com/guysinthedeliveryroom
And another good website for him to look at > http://www.drspock.com/article/0,1510,4862,00.html
Good luck to you and him and congratulations on your newest addition (soon)

You'll both be so caught up in the moment (or momentssssssss if you have an extended labor!) that you wont be able to worry about anything other than getting that baby out of you!
you'll be able to tell him what to do and what you need that he wont have time to think if he's doing something he shouldnt be
you'll be fine!

Just tell him to relax and stay at your head. I had an emergancy c-section and my husband was to worried that he wasn't going to be alright and i just told him to hold my hand and talk to me adn it helped both of us. So just tell your husband he has to be your rock and just be there for you. He will be fine and at the end he will be glad he was there.

Yes it will come natural to him. Many fathers to be are the same way. You can also get books at your library for him to read up on, to ease his mind. He will be great though. Just reassure him of that..that new fathers do it everyday!!
