Does anyone else think that some movies and shows rated 'G', are simply rated too carelessly?

For example, I was watching an episode of the Simpsons the other day (also rated G), and I was mortified at the amount of uncencored swearing and sexually based comments/suggestions that were made, in just one episode!

Imagine how this moulds our future generations, if they are constantly subjected to these sorts of media?

The One -

I am aware that the TV has an on/off switch... I figured that out two days ago...

But if you are also aware, children have their own little fingers, with which they can switch the TV on and off with as well... There's something you didnt know, hey?

But the point it - you dont know what sorts of things theyre getting subjected to at school or at their friend's houses, right?

The Simpsons is not rated G

The Simpsons is rated TV-14 meant for viewers 14 and older, content may not be suitable for children under 14.

Some of the early episodes from the 80's/90's might say "g" or something similar, but they weren't as latent with the sexual innuendos. Also, your child probably wouldn't understand those jokes anyways, so what's the harm?

What was the swearing you refer to?
Also, what age kids are you talking about?
Also, what do you mean by "constantly subjected to these sorts of media?" Because if you don't like it hit the big red button on the remote. two things happen:
1. the picture goes out
2. there is no longer any sound emitted.
