There's nothing wrong with the way you feel. You are American, not Cuban or anything else. You can feel like a country boy, or whatever you want. If you want to be a country singer, go for it. This is the "land of the free". No one can stop you from doing what you want. Maybe someday we'll hear you singing on the radio!
It would be nice if you could give me 10 points, but only Yahoo can do that.

No, you are an example of what makes America what it is. People from accross the world finding a life, a heritage and an identity without losing sight of where they're from. Yes you have a rich heritage from outside the Americas but you are no less American than the next man. Concentrate on being the person you want to be in your heart and soul. After all the rest doesn't really matter!

My dad is american and my mom is Mexican. At the age of 2, I moved to Mexico, where I lived for 11 years. when I moved back here, I experienced culture shock, even though I look white and speak English like any other American. The point is that you only care about the things that are related to where you grew up or what you observed while growing up. If you were'nt exposed to a lot of your culture, then it's pretty much nonexistent for you.

Wel l maybe you need to go back to one of your parents' countries and see how you feel. Also try to learn some history about your heritage, read some books, go online..do some research. And i don't know by what you mean you don't feel hispanic? Honey its not a feeling it who you are and what you are is not hispanic but dominican and cuban period. Don't try to see if you fit a stereotype be you but also recognize your heritage by learning about it. And if you like country music listen to rancheros they are country music too, i guess a type of country music. Don't analyze it too much like i said you are dominicuban that was born here. Be proud of that and be who you are but don't ever forget where your heritage is from..

Don't label yourself. You are whoever you want to be. You can be a country boy and still be of hispanic origin. I think that is a neat mix. You aren't wrong to bond more with America than your parents and grandparents homeland. You were born in America. Pursue your dreams and don't feel bad about it. They will be proud of you.

I think the environment a person is raised in has more influence over their character as an adult than nationality (although part of the environment could also be part of the culture of the specified nationality).
You seem to know who you are from the way you describe yourself so honestly and confidently. Whatever you do, be true to YOU! :)

it's definately not wrong to feel this way. i'm adopted,a hispanic as well, mexican/pacific islander to be exact. in my adopted family, my mother is chilean and my father is white. i'm all over the map. you can be whatever the f@*k you wana be..no matter your ethnic background, size, orientation, color. it's 2008. i'd like to believe we've all (for the most part) have grown out of the rosa parks era. do what feels comfortable. if you wana be a mexican country singer...then be it..as long as you can sing well. i say go for it.

Why shouldnt you feel this way, you are you, not for your skin or hair or blood line, why should you conform to what other people think you should be just cause your skin is dark? Be you, I know a black guy hwo looks like a rap artist, likely the best country singer I have personally met. Why are we to be so hung up on skin or genetics as to what or who we are.
