i think cellphones shouldn't be banned from school just kids should keep it out of site and don't get caught using it in class. if theirs an emergency after school on the way home kids sometimes have money for pay phones so they can use there phone. Then there parents wont worry and go crazy. Also if you want to tell them something or ask like going to a friends house. The main point is don't take any bad pics and dont get caught in school with it.

Having worked in a school I would say that phones are in this day and age a necessary evil, however, they should be switched off during school time, including break times. What possible emergency could there be during the day that you need to tell your child about?
They are a distraction to learning, I went to school before we had mobile phones and I managed to get there and back every day without one!
The other issue resulting from phones in school is peer pressure, so and so has a better phone, so I will steal it etc, I need to have that phone cos everyone else has one!
There is nothing as cruel as children, and in this day and age not everyone has the money to buy a phone with the latest technology, can you imagine the stigma that would cause?

As for books and films...... I don't think there are any.

They should be banned except for a very few special cases mainly involving serious medical conditions.

Students will receive and send text messages and phone calls while in class. The phones will ring in the middle of a class and disturb all. Answers to tests will be supplied to students through their cell phones. Phones will be lost and stolen.

In my school cell phones are banned and kept locked in the office. Children hand them in as they arrive and collect them at the end of the day. That way they have them for the walk into and home from school in case of emergencies. They are kept safe during the day to avoid them being a distraction of a temptation to ther children. If children had them in school they would constantly be distracted by them, they would use them to text and they would forget to switch them off and so they would interupt lessons if they rung. If parents need to contact their children during the day they can contact the school office who will get a message to the child. I think this is a good system.

Not banned, because in an
emergency they may be needed. BUT they should only
be used during lunch hour and
then only outside.
Cell phone use should be
outlawed while operating a
motor vehicle.
Cell phones should be TURNED OFF during movies,
church,or anywhere other than outside. While a wife
is shopping, I don't think its
necessary to call her husband
and ask him what he wants
for supper, item by item.
Can't she make a list before
she leaves home?

Kids should be allowed to take phones to school - they are useful for travelling to and from school, especially as safety. However
they should not be on during school time, there is no need. If parents have an emergency they can phone the school who will pass on the message. at my sons comp, any phones seen/heard during classes are confiscated, I think thats fine, kids break a rule then they have a punishment.

children at primary who get lifts to and from school do not need a phone

They should NOT be banned in schools. I am a father and I want my daughter to have a cellhone handy in case of emergency whetehr she is in school or not. Whatn I think is that they should be switched to vibration only. The cell phone is a safety item and they should NOT be banned in schools.

I don't think you should have cell phones in school. I don't even understand why 6 and 8 year olds have phones.

They should be banned from the classroom, but not the school entirely. Many parents give them for emergency situations. I know that's not how they're all used, but I think banning them from school grounds is a bit excessive.

not banned. Some people need phones when coming home and things. Its just safer. however, there should be rules like it has to be turned off and left in a locker or something, for the schooltime.
