Well first off u shouldnt be nervous shes your mom and EVERY woman goes through it, just say hey mom do you have a minute, she'll probably say yes then you can be like i started my period and that will lead to a whole discussion about pads and tampons and things, good bonding moment for mother and daughter hope this helps !

Just say it don't be embarressed to tell your mom. She knows all about it and can help you. Trust her she wants what is best for you. Pick a time when no one is around but the two of you or tell her you would like to talk to her in private. When you are alone just say mom I started my period. This is the time she will be your friend not your mom.

As a mother of 4 girls the best approach would be just to tell her that you have experienced your first period. She will understand an be able to guide you through it all. I don't understand why you are hesitant. My daughters haven't reached puberty yet but they know that mummy gets her periods once a month and they know that when their time comes around that they will just say to me "hey mum I have just got my first period". There is nothing to be embarrassed about or ashamed of, every girl goes through the same ordeal.

Why are guys even answering this if they don't have a daughter?
They don't no that for some girls it's tough to tell their mom.
You could write a note, or when you go to the store ask if you can run & get something and bring some supplies back, and if she asks "Why are you getting these?" Tell her can we talk about it later and she might not even bring it back up.

Having a period is just part of human nature. You're mom's gone through it. She's your best resource right now for this issue.
Just tell her like you tell her everything else. This subject is not "embarrassing" or "shameful". It's natural.
Don't be scared. Just tell her. You'll be glad you did.

Go up to her at a quiet moment and say, "mom, this is hard for me to tell you, but i got my period." everyone has to tell their mom/guardian eventually.
