I'm making a blanket, out of fleece fabric, and I was wondering if you can cut and rip it to make it stright? I know you can do that will cotton but i dont know about fleece... and i dont want to ruin the fabric i just bought. i was going to do a checker board, and peice it together, but i'm still deciding. does anyone have any ideas on what to do? or websites with ideas

Definitely don't rip your fleece. If possible, get a rolling blade and a mat with measurements on it, as this will make it much easier to get good straight lines.

My favorite fleece blanket idea is one that's not new at all, but it's lots of fun and super easy. Here's a link with complete instructions.

No. Fleece will not tear true, along the weave line.

When I work with fleece, I lay it out flat on the floor (which usually means I have to vacuum first), then mark it with chalk and a yardstick for the straight lines. Once it's well-marked, I can either cut it there, or take it someplace else for cutting.

Rather than a checkerboard, consider a strip pattern. You join two or more patterns of fleece in wide sections, then cut across the sections and stagger the resulting strips, for a wave effect. Very easy with fleece, I bet.

fleece doesn't work that way, if you want it straight, you'll have to cut it straight. sorry!
