Got a Land Rover Discovery 2,5 TDi 1992

Just yesterday when I turned off my car's engine the no-charge warning light (the red accu) remained on. When I turn the car on the light goes off. I assume alternator is charging the battery as lights, wipers, heater/blower has no problem even on parking, no lights blink when turning more aplances. But when I left my car for the night, next morning battery was totally drained...

Today I removed all leads from alternator and checked if the warning light is still on to be sure it's not a short-circuit. The light went off..

The diode inside your alternator is blown.You need to replace it.

The Rocket is right. Most likely you have bad diode in the alternator. There are several diodes so take the car or the alternator to a shop so they can be tested.

somewhere in the ignition circuit is still drawing current and that light staying on is a warning of that. check stuff like the earth (you could have a leak of charge to earth if insulation is shot, the battery could be earthing itself to the car's bodywork or the engine block).

You have to put it on the computer to find the problem area.
