No matter what the evidence, liberals insist that only their tender ministrations are capable of calming murderous dictators. Negotiation and engagement are said to "work" because, after Democrats spend years dillydallying with lunatic despots or evil communist empires who threaten America, eventually a Republican president comes in like Reagan or Bush and get the job done with 'Cowboy Diplomacy'.

Thank God JFK didn't use "cowboy diplomacy" during the Cuban missile crises.

President Bush is neither a Cowboy, nor a Diplomat. He's a Connecticut-born Ivy Leaguer, who uses words like Decider and Nucular.

Diplomacy, when done right, is painfully slow. Obviously President Bush's solution, of staying the course until a bad plan magically starts working, is also painfully slow. The difference is the amount of valuable American blood shed. While you're correct in stating that diplomacy can't solve everything, pissing on a beehive never solved anything.

Lady, you need to understand certian tactics work for certian conflicts, we can't just generalize the entire realm of diplomacy by a few events. I would not call what Bush did getting the job done, because no one is really sure right now what the job was to begin with. This is a very complex issue.

"Cowboy Diplomacy" does not work and obviously has not gotten the job done. False information was used to go into Iraq and meanwhile the real threat (Al Qaeda) is STILL on the run. We need to defend our country first and work towards peace because war should be the LAST resort. Also, we need to go after specific people, not rip apart nations and then try to throw them back together again. It does NOT work!

That is wonderful, and when does the administration plan to invade China, Venezuela or any of the other nations whom have actually publicly threatened them?

Is their plan of invading nations like Iraq, who actually made no aggressive threat against the USA working?

I'm a Redskins fan so there's no way I'm choosing cowboys. Chicks in cowboy hats are a different matter altogether.

we cannot get into a fight with everyone, we do not have the resources....even Republicans understand basic ecomomics....A very expensive war is draining our coffers, the stock market and the dollar are going south...you have to talk to your enemies...and somethimes you fight them, but on;y when you have no choice, and before Iraq we had a choice....this country belongs to everyone, not just the war mongers

Since when was talking considered appeasement . . . it doesn't mean the U.S. will forfeit the right to blow up a country at a later date. Please note North Korea (Bush has done excellent work and not one bullet fired or bomb dropped).
