for social security disability. she has been denied twice now, because they say she is able to work. this woman is about 400 pounds and has excess fluid in her legs due to poor circulation and lack of activity. does anyone know the process of getting disability approved and how long it takes, etc? the county is paying for her rent since she is "pending approval," and receives food stamps. she says that she has to wait for a hearing and appear in court? anyone else experience this? any insight would be appreciated!

She should look for an attorney who specialized in Social Security claims. She will not have to pay the attorney. If he is successful, SSA pays him.
