Generic medicine is also prescription medicine. The difference is that generic maeidicne in most cases is not produced by the company who first invented the specific drug and holds or has once held the patent for it.
I use generic ed meds, and they work ok.
You can save some money if you order meds online, just check the pharmacies very careful before you buy anything.
Here are some tips from my experience with online drugstores.
One thing I know for sure - do not buy anything from a pharmacy that sends spam emails, I know a few guys who been ripped that way, including myself. Also avoid pharmacies that have got well known SCAM products on their product lists (like penis/breast enlargement pills, viagra for women and other questionable "products") It is a very big chance that their prescription meds are also fake.
When you have found something that looks like a good and trusted pharmacy, check if the pharmacy has got a live support chat or a support phone number. If you have any doubts I suggest to contact the support staff before placing any orders, because if your shipping will be delayed or if there will be any other problems, it is better you have already tested the quality of support they can provide. Also ask the support what are their shipping and refund policies.
http://www.half-price-pharmacy.net probably is one of the cheapest sites online. Have ordered a couple times, the meds work ok, just as the ones I can get at Wal Mart. It is from the UK and I feel much better ordering from a British pharmacy than a pharmacy from India or Mexico.

Generic medicine is also prescription medicine, just not a 'brand name' of it. They often have different binders to hold the medicine together, which may cause different side effects, but usually they are just as good and a lot cheaper.
Over-the-counter medicines are the ones that require no prescription.

You need a prescription for both. A generic is medication which is produced by a company other than the original inventor after patent-protection has run its time. There is no quality difference between the original and a generic as they both have to comply with the very strict FDA rules for safety and production-quality. Use the cheapest you can find.

Buying medication from a trustworthy provider can help eliminate the risks of receiving low quality medication. I used this site a few years ago, and I found it very useful.. At the time, my health coverage was not covering my prescriptions. I was able to buy my medication online (without a prescription) in bulk for a cheaper cost.
The below pharmacies are FDA approved and offer 100% Money back guarantee.

Generic medicine is broader than prescription medicine but that is probably not the sort of answer you are seeking.
You may perhaps need to post another question with more detail as your question is somewhat vague.

you can purchase generic products of all types....shampoo, cosmetics, cold preparations, etc., usually displayed next to the branded product. read the labels and you will find the difference is in the price and maybe one or to fillers.
Rx medications, after the patent expires, are available in generic products. If I were taking a life saving chemical (heart medication, as example) I would want the branded product. If it is not life saving get the generic and save 50% or more. There are few prime manufacturers that provide most all the drugs. They are then bought and resold by different companies.

I have to disagree with all the answers above. The reason is that my self and plenty of my patients don't have the same effect from some generic brands. So it's better to stick to the more expensive original. But it is all up to the patient and he or she has to try them.

cialis works better than viagra for me.
Viagra and cialis are available in most offline and online pharmacies. You may find both brand name product manufactured by Pfizer, Inc., and generic Viagra usually sold under the name of Sildenafil Citrate (the name of the active component).
highly recommended these sites:
http://www.ustabs.com ........................................... store located in Los Angeles, U.S
http://www.tabscanada.com ........................................... main store located in Ontario, CA
http://www.opharmarcy.com ........................................... main store located Queensland, AU
http://www.indiandrugsstore.com ........................................... is an indian pharmacy,
http://www.nycpill.com ........................................... main store located in london, UK
You can buy them either from local pharmacies or online pharmacies.. so its completely up to you from where you want to buy.. I used to order it from online pharmacies.. There are so many pharmacies available which provides FDA approved medicines without any problems
