Even when I know the toast should be done soon, I still tend to jump when the slices of bread pop up. Is it just me?

Yes! I always jump! Even though I know it's going to pop up, I jump every time!

I do it too, especially when I've started doing something else in the kitchen and have kind of 'forgotten' about the toast. The coffee maker scares me sometimes too.

No... I do not stand around the toaster to get startled... I always put my stuff in then walk away..

yes, I do. And also the biscuits that you buy in a can that you have to peel the wrapper off of and they pop halfway through the peeling process! Gets me every time.

yes sometimes, but it's the can of biscuits that scares the crap out of me. i always jump when it pops.
