Ouch don't do the pliers trick on the wires. Go to Any good auto parts store and look carefully at all their ignition wire "boot" removal tools. Yes the wires become very tough to remove because they get hot inside the boots With a right angle boot plier twist the boot first till it breaks loose. Keep twisting as you pull it off the plug terminal. If a boot pliar does not have enough space they make a removal tool with the contour of the boot with a hook on the end that forces the boot upward.

When installing the boots first go to any auto parts store and get a tube of ignition grease wipe some inside every spark plug boot. Next time the wires will come off nice and easy.

it somewhat is accessible to get undesirable cord or undesirable spark plugs or the incorrect spark plugs. that's no longer that elementary via, it somewhat is extra elementary to get the incorrect spark plugs or blend up the spark plug wires. yet you would be unable to omit cord in simple terms one spark plug cord, and with the coil packs consistent with cylinder you possibly can rather would desire to artwork to omit cord it. So i'm assuming which you have a Ford Explorer with a rotary distributor, and the two a 6 or 8 cylinder engine. tell your husband the undertaking and have him recheck his artwork. Get out your proprietors instruction manual and ensure you have the best spark plug on your automobile. make certain that the spark plugs are perfect and securely equipped, that the spark plug wires are securely equipped, and that the wires are under pressure to the best plug. reckoning on what 12 months of ford you have this would desire to be somewhat ordinary to do yet you will would desire to understand the firing order. Get a restoration instruction manual from the library or look it up via the information superhighway regularly the firing order would have a diagram that instruct how the spark plug cord run. If all looks so as or it rather is previous our skill then pass to a great storage or ford dealership. you do no longer choose for to stress if avoidable, you would be able to reason extra extreme injury. ultimate of success

If you send me a picture of the engine, I could probably point them out for you. It should be a distributor-less ignition with individual coil packs on each spark plug.

if you have a four cylinder there on the back side of the rocker cover under the coils there should be a 10mm bolt on the coil then unplug it and pull up on coil to get to the plug
you shouldn't have to do this until 100,000 miles w/ the new cars

The ones near the firewall are almost impossible to get to for the driveway mechanic. So take it to a shop, they have the tools.
