Jones had about 140 fewer chances than Wright, Ramirez about a hundred fewer, Feliz 45. He made the errors he did because he got to balls most others couldn't have reached, and his aggressive play cost him on his fielding percentage. He made spectacular plays so often he made them look routine. Feliz and Zimmerman may be the two who would have been reasonable alternatives, but Wright definitely deserved it for his remarkable playmaking.

Look, if the Gold Gloves were given just for best fielding percentages, they'd be even more meaningless than they are now. They go to the best overall fielder, and errors are often misleading. Mike Schmidt won 10 Gold Gloves at third, and his fielding percentage was just .955. Brooks Robinson, the all-time best, only had a .971. It's called the hot corner for a reason. Odd as it sounds, a good 3B can make more errors than a bad one, simply because of the balls he gets to.

Craig, you've said this before, but zone rating doesn't deal with the ground a player covers. It uses the same zone for all players at that position, and deals only with plays made in the zone. And since range factor deals with putouts and assists, it will go against someone who gets to more balls but also makes errors due to getting to more balls. Wright had the second most chances of any 3B in the NL. He made a lot of errors, but that's because he got to more balls. Check out the total chances of the guys ahead of him.

For about the millionth time - David Wright does NOT make more errors because he gets to more balls than other players. His rankings:

Fielding percentage - 8th
Range factor - 7th
Zone rating - 8th

People talk about him making highlight plays by getting to balls others wouldn't reach, but it's just not true. Zone rating measures how much ground a player covers, and Wright ranked below seven others. Sure, he may have made some great plays, but he also didn't make many others that better defensive third basemen this year would have made.

Again, this is a case of people trying to decide who deserves an award based on highlights they saw on Sportscenter. Fans are very selective in what they choose to see, and it usually gets molded to fit their perceptions. Wright did NOT deserve this award by any measure.

David Wright didn't deserve it he made 21 Errors and Chipper Jones only made 9 so Chipper should've won the gold glove. Wright only won the gold glove because ESPN shows him on the top 10 all the time but 21 errors isn't gold glove worthy.

i think you mean MVP

Wright had much more attempts that Chipper, Rameriz, and feliz. He has made some spectacular plays.

But I would have given the award to Chipper Jones
