"sleeping together" IS slang for having sex, but it also depends on the context, cause it CAN always just be literal (my husband and I don't always "sleep together", sometimes we just sleep together). If someone says to "so and so are sleeping together" you can fairly sure they mean sex.

Not exactly. Sleeping is just sleeping. Now, it might be hard to convince someone else that all you did was sleep, but it is possible.

Well, yeah. When I was a kid I had sleepover birthday parties where we all slept on the floor. I guess that means we had a huge 8 year old gay orgy.

Unless you actually "have sex", it's not having sex.
