I found it outside several days ago and it was doing well. I saw it around the front door for 3-4 days and then the next day I found him further out in the rock garden and he was very lethargic ( I suspect from the cold-low 40's). It is in the house now but still very lethargic, almost dead. Is there anything I can give it for it to survive or is death imminate at this time of year?

There's a lot of info online --- http://www.google.com/search?q=raising+preying+mantis&hl=en -- however they don't say that the mantis will only live for 9 months at most. I found one last year and brought it indoors, feeding it with feeder crickets I'd gotten at the fish store, but he died at the end of November.

Lots of insects, but one at a time, or else they might fight back and kill the mantis. Try to keep it at a temperate/warmer temperature, and don't bother it too much. It might be late, though. Some insects are really fragile.
