I used to sing to my son while I was pregnant. Always the same song and I did it every day. Well he's two weeks old today and he was fussy yesterday so I thought I would sing him that song. He calmed right down and went to sleep. Does he remember this song or is it just my voice that soothes him?

He absolutely remembers! It's the same as remembering your voice and dad's voice when he is born. He will remember sounds from being in your wound too, like your heartbeat. That's why they make those stuffed animals with the heartbeat wound sound.

I think it is a combination of your voice and the song. I used to sing the song "You are my sunshine" to my son. He was born almost 3 months early and when I would hold him in the hospital he would be fussy and trying to pull at the wires and feeding tubes. As soon as I would start singing that song he would look at me and calm down immediately.

Oh yes, he remembers.
There is a song that if I play it she goes right to sleep and it's the song I was pretty much addicted to the majority of my pregnancy!

Absolutely your baby remembers it. My daughter and I sang rock a bye baby every night to "baby Jackson" after story time and to this day if I need to calm him down that's what I sing. I continued it after his birth to help keep him calm.

i would say he remembers it...the song soothed him becasue it was familiar.That is why they have that teddy bear that makes sounds from the womb. i dont think they would have made it if studies didnt show newborns remember sounds from the womb. and i know a lot of moms that lay their babies on their heart to sooth them. i guess they remember the heartbeat.

it's your voice but he also remembers the tune too. i sang to both my girls in while pregnant and both of them responed to the same some the same way. my daughter is 9 years old now and she still recongnizes the song when she hears it on the radio.
