We found out 6 days after closing that our house sank ( apparently it was sank when we bought it) the builder would not buy it back . They did pay part of the cost to have basement to be finished & they put helical piers under the house where it settled .
Did I lose $ on it sinking ?

No, you didn't lose anything, as long as the helical piers stop any further sinking. Assumably, they brought the house back to the levels it was BEFORE it started sinking. That being the case, you should be fine.

Had the builder realized that the substrate was unstable and the piers installed before construction, you would have had the same result.

You probably aren't going to lose anything, but you will most likely have to disclose the issue when you go to sell it. Your home is actually more stable now then when it was built in the first part. Those piers will be strong for a very long time and I'm sure there is some sort of warranty on them.

If it's a houseboat, then you are sunk.
