I asked a perfectly legitimate question about why Republican make such a false issue out of abortion and gay marriage, which are never mentioned in the bible, yet so many conservatives scoff at placing helping the poor above greed as "socialist".

The question got removed because it talked openly about "moral" hypocrisy in the "party of values".

And Republicans couldnt answer up to it with insight and logic, so they filibustered with abuse complaints to Yahoo to try to shut me up.

Why or why not?

I've answered questions like that before. I'm an Atheist, so maybe it's because I have an outsider's view, but that little paradox, like the one about how can liberals support abortion (murdering babies) but not capital punishment (executing murders), is easily resolved.

First of all, condemnations of homosexuality /do/ exist in the bible - but they're in the old testament, along with instruction on how you should sacrifice goats. The Church (as the Catholic Church, largely unopposed at the time) set asside must such proscriptions and requirements. That's why Christians don't have to keep Kosher, for instance.

Anyway, that stuff aside, it is true that Charity is a core Christian value, (it's one of the Pillars of Islam, too: giving alms). The point of Charity is not /just/ to get help to those in need, but to actually provide that help /yourself/, voluntarily. If it's not personal and of your own free will, it's not a Virtue. For instance, if a poor person steals a loaf of bread out of your house, that's not Charity, it doesn't get you any closer to heaven. But, if you give him the bread, that's Charity, and you get some time off in Purgatory for good behavior.

Once you understand that, it becomes clear why Conservative Christians don't see any need for the /government/ to provide for the poor, and why they abhor egalitarian socialist policies, as well. They deny the virtue of Charity, replacing it with forced taxation to fund provisioning of the poor by the souless state.

Most Christians probably don't think it through that analytically. They'll just say "that's what private charities are for."

Oh, my my... why do I find it difficult to believe you got your question removed for the reasons you give?
Could it be that you were offensive in your wording?
I mean, it's possible considering your argument is based on some rather naive premises...
"Abortion and Gay Marriage aren't mentioned in the Bible"

neither is:
Cloning
Gun Control
Nuclear Proliferation

I guess Christians have no right to have any opinion on any of those three issues because, well, they're not mentioned in the Bible.

So now you come along and post a question obviously offensive enough to get Yahoo Answers to remove it and you blame Conservatives for that... well, I'm sorry, Yahoo Answers isn't mentioned in the Bible so I feel if I comment on your problem, you'll declare me a hypocrite.

When you have a rational question with accurate information... ask it.
No one here is afraid of you or trying to shut you up.

"If you give a man a fish he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish he will eat for a lifetime." That pretty much sums up the difference between Dems and Reps. Republicans care about helping people but understand that charity isn't always the way. It frustrates me when I see the press talk about the child healthcare bill that the president wouldn't sign and say he doesn't care about kids when it in truth the program was for families making under $40,000 a year and the Dems wanted to raise it $80,000. What family making $80,000 need the government to pay for their healthcare!!! Give me a break.

Sad
I had questions about US being the only one following rules in this war, Hillary needing a sex change to become first woman president, and Kennedy talking about water boarding after he left a woman drowning and went home, I had these all removed. Why can't you take the heat?

Newt taught the Repubs that they can do anything they want to as long as they mouth the correct words. Bush and Cheney have mastered the art of closing down opposition to their idiotic ideas. What happened to your question is just a result of their lemmings at work.

The interesting thing is that a lot of the younger Christian voters are moving in that direction. According to polls, gay marriage and abortion are losing their importance as an issue with these voters and the war on terror and poverty are becoming bigger issues with conservative Christian voters.

I saw that question, and wondered how long it would stay. It's a valid question at its heart, but you did ask it in a mean spirited way. Try rephrasing things so they sound less like accusations, and more like a request for information. I too am genuinely curious what a devoted christian would find attractive in the GOP.

Oh, and that's not really what Fillibuster means.

Your version of "helping the poor" amounts to nothing more that appeasing entitlement minded, lazy parasites who have no inclination whatsoever to contribute to society or their own betterment.

Why do you presume all Repubs are Christian. That simply is not true. Sterotyping is an illogical way to evaluate.
