I just found out that I'm 5 weeks pregnant with my first child, and I am ecstatic. I was told for years that I would never be able to conceive, so this is my miracle baby. I've been cramping off and on (mild to moderate) for the past few days. There has been no bleeding (thank God) and other than being ridiculously tired, I feel perfectly fine. Is the cramping normal? My doctor told me it was because it's my ligaments stretching and everything adjusting to the changes, but I'm still very worried. Should I be?

They say when you're early on like that, what you feel may be similar to how you feel when you are getting your period. If you normally are at all crampy, then I wouldn't be concerned. BUT if you get strong pain or the slightest bit of blood, go to the ER. Never hurts to be safe!

Cramping is completely normal especially in the beginning, When I found out I was pregnant I was at 5 weeks. I thought for sure my period was going to start at any moment, the cramps were so bad. And then I started spotting, I really freaked out. But here I am 4 weeks away from giving birth. So do not worry, cramping at the beginning of pregnancy is normal, many women experience it.

I wouldn't be unless you started to bleed. Cramps, you will come to find, are a normal part of pregnancy. But I make sure I let my doctor know about every single cramp and pain I have so they can let me know if it's normal or not. I think you are fine and congrats on the baby!

Period like cramps, or any mild cramping is totally and completely normal. They'll be replaced by the pinch and pull of stretching muscles and tendons, and alter with the pain of braxton hicks and round tendons.

Pregnancy doesnt feel good. The cramps are normal.

Congratulations!!! It is very normal to feel that way. When I was about 5 weeks I would have sworn my period was coming because the cramps were so strong. I now have a very healthy two week old boy. Don't stress about this, you'll be just fine and so will your baby:)

Yes, your doctor is right. I was told to drink more water, it can help to ease those pains. it has worked so far for me. I get the cramps as well off and on. They are always mild, rarely moderate. If they ever get to the point of being severe call your doc, other than that....try to enjoy the joy of your first pregnancy.

Good luck and congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Menstrual-like cramps are very common in the first trimester. You may continue to experience this. My doctor also told me it was round ligament pain as your uterus, stomach, muscles, etc. stretch and expand. I experienced such severe pain at one point I was sure I was losing the baby! But my doctor told me it was just round ligament pain. As long as you don't have bleeding, you should be fine. Best wishes.

I had REALLY bad cramos when I was a few weeks pregnant and it really scared me. I would go to the toilet each time expecting to see blood but luckly there never was non. Im now 31weeks pregnant. The cramps are just your uterus stretching and your inside all growing. I wish someone had told me sooner because that really scared me too! Good luck, your guna be fine!!

Trust in what your doctor says. Sounds like everything is normal. I'm 5.5 weeks with our 1st child after trying 1.5 years. I haven't had any symptoms, other than a positive blood test at the dr office. I figure God is giving me a break on the morning sickness b/c we went through quite a bit to get to where we are at right now! I'm grateful either way!

Cramping is perfectly normal...it's just your uterus and your body getting used to having something new in it. If you start to bleed then there is a cause for concern. If you have severe cramping along with lower back cramping and bleeding call your doctor right away. Other than that it sounds like everything is normal for you. Good Luck!!
