I THINK YOU MEAN WHY ARE CID INVESTIGATING OR CASE AND NOT THE AVERAGE UNIFORM POLICE, IS THIS RIGHT???
AND DONT LISTEN TO PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT CID AGENTS ETC AND COMPROMISING A CASE, THIS ISNT JAMES BOND STUFF, most officers do plain clothes somethimes so its not that.

It depends on the seriousness of the assault, if its a sexual assault, or an extremly serious one, eg coma victim, unconcious, loss of limbs, or disfigurement, or has the publics interest then CID will take over, reason is they have more expertese than uniform and more time, most uniform are broken into sections of response police, sector or neighbourhood police, and tactical groups or traffic cops, when the public see a policeofficer dont always asume they are all the same in the same job. They will all attend an emergency if required or see one at hand, but they all have different roles and dont always or not offen interchange roles, very raley will i do traffic duties ie, motorway jobs etc etc or i will never investigate serious crime, unifom dont have the resources, ITS like this, if its theft, its a uniform lad, if its a burglary its CID, they are the same thing except one is a more serious type of theft, entering property,
YOU COULD JUST BE lucky though or your force do it different to mine, unless you got something to hide, i wouldnt worry and would be gratefull, because your getting a more thourgh service.

Policy varies from Force to Force. In most cases CID only investigate serious assaults. That said if they are not busy they can take on more minor investigations. There is nothing untoward about it don't worry, CID generally have more time and expertise so you will get a more thorough investigation.

I expect if it was a serious assault then CID would investigate, or if there were other circumstances perhaps. Be grateful it's CID and not uniform.

Also because in uniform it shows there rank and sometimes that could hinder the case!!!!!!!!!!! ie. suspect is a COL and CID agent in uniform is a E5. The COL will not listen to this person in uniform because he is and E5. This would make the CID agent counter productive
