If there was a gobal crop faliure would you know enough what plants were edible or not to survive?

It seems like most poeple overlook wild plants as an alternative food if times get that bad. Would you know enough if a crisis like that hit the world to survive?

I know a lot of them, but lets face it, cat tails and lawn weeds aren't tasty - and Michigan just plain doesnt have very much between October and April.....period.

Just not enough for everyone, no matter how you look at it....

One of the significant problems we are going to have to face, is there are too many people on this planet to support - and goverments DONT want us to procreate less because it would have detrimental effects on the economy....

I wish... when I was little I took classes on things like that in case I ever got lost in the woods. I had all these books and field guides telling me how to survive. I realize now that would be really helpful in a global crisis. Hmm... I should probably find those...

I would have thought the reason for a global total crop failure would also include other plants as well.

Yah. But if there were global crop failures I would guess it would also affect just regular vegetation, so we'd be screwed anyway.

There are not enough wild plants to sustain us in that situation so it doesn't matter if we knew what they were or not.

nope - even though i spent a lot of time on my grandparents' farm. and my grandmother absolutely knew what was edible, poisonous, medicinal, etc.

i wish i had paid attention, and even made notes.
