what is the new name for council housing?

i heard last week that council housing has been called high demand low income housing or something like that, supposed to be politically correct, does anyone know what the name is and why? i've look online and not found anything about i so wondered what people were talking about. any help or links would be really useful thanks

Most council houses have been sold off to private housing associations and are therefore called Housing Association Houses.

You should put your name down on the list, but you will be waiting for a very very long time, especially as you are already in a home. I had to wait 6 years before I obtained my council flat. Best of luck xx

Social Housing covers affordable and council housing, but they run by another pc invention ALMO
An Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) is a company set up by a local authority to manage and improve all or part of its housing stock.

I've actually never heard the term "council housing" used in the U.S. I thought that was just for the U.K. I call it low income housing.

jampetpaul is right, social housing or affordable housing. Its because many local authorities - Councils no longer own or manage the housing stock and they are now in Community Trusts. :)

Aren't they called an extint remnant of history? Or if not why did I have to take myself off the register after over 2 years because I was not getting anywhere?
