I have never seen anyone give or receive anything more than gentle ribbing with regard to front-line jobs vs. support jobs. Those guys on the front line know what they do, are very confident in themselves, and don't need to put others down... they APPRECIATE the work the supply line folks and the mechanics and engineers do to make their lives easier when it's time to fight... or make it safer... or more pleasant when they return to camp. So don't ever feel you're less-than anything or anyone else... EVERY job is critical, and they all know it, from day one! Second, check with your local recruiting office and find out when the practice ASVAB is. It's not an intelligence test... or a "how well did you do in school" test.. .it's an aptitude test. If you're interested in electronics, then I recommend you hold out, take a 1-semester class at a local Junior college (for something less than $50, probably) and get your math scores up as high as you can. That should make you eligible for most of the engineering/computer/mechanical MOS's. Also, check with a recruiter so you know what the minimums are. Take the practice ASVAB... knowing the actual ASVAB is a little harder, so you probably won't do quite as well... (nobody does, don't sweat it!) and see what MOS's you qualify for. If it's not what you really want to do, then take that 1-semester math class at your local community college. It will be worth it!

Oh yeah women are shallow and selfish, all right. We don't want to have bill collectors calling when we are both working and trying our best just to pay the bills. We don't want to have to take out money from our savings half the time just to pay those bills. From a savings account that before marriage was pretty impressive, and is steadily being depleted. If one of us gets sick or hurt and can no longer work, we want to know that we could pay medical costs and bills on one paycheck for a few months until the other can work again. We don't want to be 9 months pregnant, due any day, and even though it was a planned baby and we could afford him or her when we conceived, scared because things happened and now we are barely surviving as it is and now we have a baby coming soon. I don't care how "glamorous" the job is, I do care that he makes enough to take care of the family if something happens, and that be both make enough money to both "get by" and have a savings account for each of us and plan for retirement someday. I don't want to be a 60 year old widow who has to make a choice between food and medicine. How shallow of me.

Women are all about status man. You could be a plumber earning over 100/k and women will still look down upon you, while conversely being a lawyer earning 50/k and the women would be swarming all over you. Essentially, whether you have money or not is irrelevant-- its the appearance that matters.

That's because they have been conditioned by their parents to look for husbands with good paying careers. Many women don't mind marrying men with lower status jobs or those who don't make as much money as they do but their parents often freak out about it. It has to do with the old "marrying well" idea that is still ingrained in their heads.

A person's occupation does not hold much relevance to me as long as they are kind hearted, considerate and open-minded. A person's job is what they do to keep out of debt and stay solvent. It's how you are as a human being that counts.

My husband has a job that some might consider to be "not-so-glamorous"... he's a stay-at-home-dad. I don't look down on him... he does a great job!
