Unfortunately I live there and I don't really like it here. Here's a little thing I wrote in English class. Hope you can learn something about us from it.

How do you feel about being frozen to death, getting robbed of all your earthly belongings and getting your feelings hurt? Don't like it? Then you should try to avoid coming to Iceland. Although most guidebooks cant stop raving about the beautiful nature and the warm welcomes I cant help but wondering if they are talking about the same island as me.

Firstly the nature and the weather are utterly hostile. You might wake up in a warm and sunny weather but I guarantee that by the time you are dressed there will be a storm outside. Did everyone tell you that the name Iceland is a misnomer and the weather is really temperate so you didn't pack your warm winter clothes because you would be traveling in spring? I should feel sorry for you but I don't, this was your decision. Even if you are traveling by car you aren't safe. Floods, mudslides and avalanches are frequent, sweeping cars away with them. It has happened before. Now that you are cold, wet and covered with mud do you still feel like staying? If yes, read on.
Consequently, you try to find a store selling outdoor clothes but clothes cost money and in Iceland they cost a lot of money. Everything here is expensive, even the most important necessities. The tax on food and clothes are high but even if you are shopping tax-free all the things you want to buy are too expensive. I think that you should spend your money on something more important, like charities. There are people starving out there, you know!

Now you must be feeling depressed so you decide to go pub-crawling. You did read in some guide book that Icelandic women were kind of. well loose, so the evening might at least end well. Think again lad, Icelandic women are proud and hard-headed. If we want to go to bed with you thats our choice, if we don't, run away as fast as you can. If you want to know about Icelandic women temperaments you should try reading about Hallgerdur langbrok in Brennu-Njalssaga which is an old Icelandic saga. It may have happened thousand years ago but the women are still practically the same; evil.

So you see, this island is quite the opposite from what you read from in books. You might think it cant be that bad and I must be exaggerating but unfortunately I'm not. Just stay away; it will make your whole life a lot easier. In fact, just as I was writing this I wondered; can I come and stay at your place?
