Well, I just returned to the US 5 wks. ago and during that trip I was in Brighton for two days.
I was also there 28 years ago for a few days too!

In the area near "THE CLOCK" and down to "THE MALL" I saw many 20-25 year olds, mostly punkers. I wondered if they had jobs, because they were spending money like they owned a bank.

Most of the jobs there seem to be travel related.
Including the convention center and a host of restaurants.

Personally, I like Brighton. The architecture along Kings Road reminds me of Galveston, Texas.

A notable change in Brighton over the years has been the age population. Much younger now than it was in 1978.

Anyone I've ever met who is horrible has come from Brighton - Gee, I hope I never go there (shudddder)
I'd hate to live there, and I think it must be even worse to go to school there. Ahhh, that's it - the reason why all the kids that I've met coming from brighton are utter freaks is because the town itself is a bit a of a freak-turner-out.
Sorry to any of you who are cool and are unfortunate enough to live there.

The nearest to Blackpool that Londons got.

Lots of nightlife, good proportion of LGBT clubs, interesting shops, lots of antiques, easy acesss by public transport.

First official English nudist beach, now used by idiots who think standing on the stones at the back with an erection will make us think they're wonderful instead of pratts.
