Some people have them up really early, but I prefer it put up about a week before. Too early and the whole thing feels a bit used and stale by Christmas Eve or Christmas day. There is a greater feeling of freshness and excitement if one leaves it a little later. In my family it was customary to bring in the tree a couple of days before, and do a Christmas Eve group decorating get-together, with drinks of egg nog, spiced apple cider and gingerbread cookies as part of the treat.

Our family has a tradition of putting up the tree the week-end after Thanksgiving.
So once our stomaches settle, and the food is put away the kitchen is some what put back to normal, we have the tree trimming!
I used to put up different deco's each year, and make a different thyme out of Christmas, but once I had my kids and they were growing up, the Traditions started and the ornaments that I have collected over the years and they have bought me, and me them because our yearly thing!
Good Luck!!

Probably a few days after the beginning of December. It's probably dorky but still being sort of a "kid", I like seeing the tree up because I count down the days until Christmas.

K, In the Philippines they keep them up for months and put them up 2 to 3 months early! The States are different. Maybe tomorrow it is illegal? Anyway, most is just after Thanksgiving! Then all can see the season! This varies from 2 weeks before to a month before. Your choice and why ask this? You are a free person, for now, until we let others take away that right by who we elect! AND YES, THAT IS HAPPENING AS I WRITE THIS,... VOTE FOR THOSE WHO SUPPORT CHRISTMAS... NO LYING LIBERALS DO! God bless. Earl

Usually on my birthday, which is December 10.
I figure that having it up a two weeks before christmas eve is plenty of time to get in the holiday spirit without ruining it.
We usually take it down on the 2nd of January.

Usually the first weekend in December. I know most people do it right after Thanksgiving but my mother always insisted we not put it up until December and for some reason I've stuck to that tradition.

My costly Bella, right here interior the states people have forgotten the meaning of why Christmas is.... they have become too commercialized, that's no longer for the reason of Christmas it somewhat is for the "season". The lighting fixtures, the decorations, track, competition situations, specific I accomplish that like those issues regardless of if that's no longer for the comparable reason I beautify. it is likewise for the start of our Lord Jesus that I try this, interior the ordinary public area the reason has been completely lost, it somewhat is forbidden to reserrect a nativity scene now, and that's the reason at the back of the season, no longer basically to sell toys and have a sturdy time, specific it somewhat is meant to be a time of giving and excitement. yet excitement for the admire of God, no longer for guy just to experience sturdy approximately himself. I develop my tree in December as properly subsequently. yours, bikerfrank

In Canada too many put it up the day after Halloween, YIKES!! There is too much commercialization of Christmas as it is.
I always put it up the first weekend in December and take it down the first weekend in January.
Just 47 days till Christmas... ;-D
