My sister is 3 cm dialated and 35 weeks and 4 days with her first. She is due Dc. 9 and I was just wondering how long it may take until she gives birth.
I don't want to sound rude or anything, but my husband and I live 9 hours away from home (military) and have kinda planned around my sisters pregnancy as to when we will travel back for my baby shower/going away party since we are moving to England. We plan on leaving next Friday and staying until Dec. 1. We thought we could go before the baby is due since she also lives 13 hours away from family.
I don't want to end up going home and her having the baby and then me being there without my mom, since she will want to be with my sister. My parents haven't seen us since June and we will be moving to England from the USA in late January and won't be able to travel much considering I am pregnant and it cost a lot.
Just wanted some opions on how much longer she may have. Thanks.

As long as the baby wants!! Theres no set time unfortunately, but the rule of thumb is as long as she is in active labor dilating every hour is the average!!! But everybody and every baby is different!!

I was at about 2 cm. for about a month and a half. Then my doctor told me i can be induced for labor a week before my actual due date. I was induced and only got to 3 cm. Then the popped the waterbag, i only got up to 4 cm before they said i needed a emergency section. She wasnt dropping anymore and said she was turning sideways so yea. I know someone who stayed at 3 cm for 2 months also. It can be any day now tho for your sister

She could stay that way until December 9th (or later)
She could deliver sooner.
I was 3 CM for about 6 weeks before my first. She came a day late.
I was 1 CM with my second until the day before.

Everyone above me said a long time. I wouldn't know about that. With My wife, and all 4 babies, she reached 3 CM and was deliverying about 2 days later.
The most interesting thing about each of them is in all 4 cases when she was 2 days from delivery her face would constantly change colors. From flushed red to peach color to greyish, to blue even. It was amazing.

You can stay @ 3 cm for quite awhile. I was @ 2 cm for nearly 2 months.

well my cousin stayed at 3cm for about a month and a week so yeah it can take a while....and i suggest ya not travel at all.

It all depends on the woman,... my mom was three centimeters for four months.

one can be dilated at 3 for a long time.
I was ... for .... oh, 4 weeks or so.
