I have a 27" lcd monitor/tv that was struck by lightning. The only signal that seems to be affected is the vga input. All other opearations seem to work OK. I believe I can hook up a cable that has vga/dvi on one end and hdmi on the other, or at least vga to component video? Any suggestions?

There is no cable that can do this.

VGA is analog signals in a R G B colour space.

Component is analog too, but a Y, Pr, Pb colour space.

HDMI is R G B colour space, but has digital signals.

There are various black boxes that claim to convert signals from one format to another. I have not used any of them so I can not comment.

1.21 Jigawatts!!!!!!!! damn son.

Im having trouble understanding exactly what your trying to do here.

Assuming point X is your computer and point Y is your Monitor, which format do you want on each end???

But either way: the Golden Rule is theres an adapter for EVERYTHING.

So if you want your DVI computer out to convert to HDMI: I can say with a fair amount of certainty it exists. Go check out Best Buy or Circuit City. Amazon is also brilliant.
