Who believes the media is telling the truth or promoting their liberal preferences.

Whether you sample your news feed from ABC or CBS (or, yes, even NBC and MSNBC), whether you prefer Fox News Channel or National Public Radio, The Wall Street Journal or The New Yorker, some of the journalists feeding you are also feeding cash to politicians, parties or political action committees.
MSNBC.com identified 143 journalists who made political contributions from 2004 through the start of the 2008 campaign, according to the public records of the Federal Election Commission. Most of the newsroom checkbooks leaned to the left: 125 journalists gave to Democrats and liberal causes. Only 16 gave to Republicans. Two gave to both parties.

Great Question.
I believe they are only telling the truths that promote an agenda.
You are right that the overwhelming majority of them are promoting Democrats and negatively portraying Republicans, while Fox News is the only one that does the opposite.

Yesterday, the headlines on the Iraq war were saying, "2007 is the deadliest year for American Soldiers".
They failed to say that the last two months there have been fewer deaths than any 2 months for the last 19 months.

Also the total number of deaths so far has been 3858 (http://icasualties.org/oif/) which is made to sound like a very big number.
We invaded Iraq on March 18, 2003. That means that the war has lasted exactly 1697 days.
So there have been an average of 2.27 deaths per day since the War began.
In the entire history of the United States, there has has only been one conflict that is classified as a war and had fewer deaths per day- the First Gulf War.

As far as Wars go, the Bushs have conducted the 2 Wars with the fewest deaths per the time involved in AMERICAN HISTORY.

But you will never hear this from the press report this, because if they were to say it, then Bush and our military leaders look competent.

Instead, they claim that Petraeus has betrayed us, or that Bush is the worst president in history, or that we are losing the Iraq War, or that we need to tuck tail and run, or that this is the bloodiest year of the war, or that our government has failed us, or that the Democrats will get us out (yeah right!), or the surge has failed, or that there will be a draft, and the list goes on and on and on.....

You can't believe an ounce of what they say, because they only want you to forget what you know and accept only the BS they spew, when they are only trying to promote socialism and liberalism.

Fox news is a perfect example of liberal bias. The Dallas Morning News is another, the Atlanta Constitution is another. Watch weekend BookTV and watch the line up of Heritage, Rand and several other right wing think tanks parade their experts for hours. I am liberal, and I think most news is way too conservative. I smile when people accuse them, of being too liberal. I enjoy reading The National Review and Matt Drudge and The Cato Institute as well as New York Magazine and The Atlantic. Lets face it, what's so intelligent about listening to people who think like you. You have to listen to the other side. I believe in a LOYAL OPPOSITION, a concept lost in the US.

Fox news is so stupid, they can't spell. They spell GOP F, O, X.

If you go back and look at history, you will discover that news outlets have gone from right to left, depending on the era. The newspaper owned by Quail's grandparents in Indianapolis, wrote that Kennedy was a KGB agent, with a straight face. Besides the internet and cable make it impossible for anyone to control the news. Don't be so predictable, read, READ. You are obviously smart, and think. Don't let them snow you.

Hey you pander to whomever butters your bread.

The journalists have two prime movers.

1) Their boss's political preference.
2) The party that is the greater source of outrage.

Lastly: Their feet are held to the fire for ratings.
They have to compete for an audience. Most, if not all of them have surrendered the mainstream silent majority to FOX. They tried and failed to get that audience.
That leaves the slim pickings on the left.
It's obvious that they are all trying to see how far left they can go without falling off the earth.

I beleive everything I see in print or hear on the media. Sometimes I will write something down just so I can beleive it.
Seriously though, the media is slightly biased toward the left because that is where the money is at the time. If they want to tell the truth, they have to go outside of their roles as news readers and be real folks.

It so funny because the general Media leans so far to the left, Fox tries to be middle ground but Liberals blast it as a republican station. Weither you are Republican or Demorate or Neither don't you want a station that is non bias so you can make up your mind? Or do you like one sided arguments to point to what you agree with?

Why would the journalists promote a liberal agenda?

Oh, they care about people. They believe in what they are doing. I don't care if their reporting is a little biased. I know enough to dig deeper into issues I care about to see how far the truth has been stretched. I appreciate what these journalists do, get people to take some kind of action, grab their attention, etc.

I don't trust what any corporate executive tells me. The guys from TJ Maxx/Marshalls and Mattel were pieces of work. Liars. They obviously didn't care about anyone but themselves. What have we become? These *?!!!*&&& baby boomers.

I'm a member of the media -- a local business journal -- and I can promise you, the media is BIG on promoting their liberal preferences.

Just read the election coverage, for starters. It's not hard to figure out.

It is virtually impossible to separate political news in this country from the biased punditry of either side. Conservatives have Fox News and NPR liberals have CNN and MSNBC.

You mean the "liberal media"... like Fox News? The liberal media is a MYTH - the media is owned by extremely wealthy individuals, most of which are VERY conservative. Only people that don't like what they are saying call it the "liberal media". Its like the CLOWNS who say that judges that don't rule the way they want to are resorting to "judicial activism" instead of just saying "they disagree with our opinion". The media isn't owned by the people on it - they are the EMPLOYEES of the people that actually OWN the "media".

There is no liberal bias, Six conglomerates own 90% percent of all media in America.

This argument when weighed against the fact loses hands down, but yet its a favorite right wing lie.
