between the new floor and the door they left a gap over a metal channnel- how do I fill it in and still keep the look of the floor

I don't know why they would have left out the threshold, unless they just forgot to put it in. But, a threshold is a 3- to 4-inch wide ramp made of wood or metal that provides the transition from the floor to the bottom of the door opening.

Maybe they are waiting for you to tell them what kind of threshold you want. But, I would definitely call the builders or floor guys and ask them what's up with the missing threshold.

the only reason to leave the gap was for the threshold, if you have a metal threshold, they need to come back and fix the mess. These is no way to fill it in
