I don't know, but it annoys the crap out of me. I used to work retail, and every year the mall started the music earlier. Once they had Santa out before the Thanksgiving Parade. That's just wrong. Stores put their stuff out earlier and earlier to get people shopping. This year I saw stuff in the stores in September!!!! I'm not sure it was even officially Fall yet! It really makes me not like Christmas. It's overkill, and it wears me out. I used to really like the holiday, but because how early they bombard us with it, it feels like an obligation which is sad, and by the time Dec. 25 rolls around, it's anti-climactic. It's the same with people who don't take their tree down until February or March (I've seen it). I mean I get if you love the holiday, but I love Halloween, and I don't put decorations up in July and leave them until New Year's.

Christmas does not start until Santa ushers it in at the end of the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Period!

Thanks for letting me vent. Rant over.

it may be crazy to u but some people r really into christmas. who can blame them. christmas is fun. its good to be with family it is good to celebrate. its a great holiday.

EDIT: also as someone already brought up its a lot easier for people to do it while it is still somewhat warm. personally i hate getting up on a ladder in the icy cold winter just to put lights on my house

because they LOVE Christmas and are excited... i love it too...
my tradition is this though... after dinner on Thanksgiving... we decorate the Christmas tree... so that when i go shopping on black Friday... i will have a tree to put some of the presents under... and then spend the rest of the weekend decorating the rest of the house....

I would think its mostly because it invites the spirit of the holidays around. And people love that. they love being blissfully giddy. It just preents a good feeling.
