Am I the only one who thinks that more and more companies are being corrupted by the people they choose to put in charge? FOr example, I was a regional manager for a transportation company that had 2 drivers get killed with in a year. The truth is that the drivers were way over their hours of service and had no business being behind the wheel but their regional manager told them that if they didn't drive they would be fired. Amazingly enough after they were killed their log books came up missing and so did the records of any hauls they had done. Both their families are currently suing this company. I left because I couldn't stand the whole attitude of "This is what the law tells us but we are going to do it our way." attitude.

My husband was fired from his job because his boss needed to use his as "An Example". My husband missed one day because he was sick and then was 10 minutes late another because of a construction road block. The truth is that everyone on his job sight, including the boss, snorts pills and my husband never "partied" with them. He was fired for something stupid like that yet another pill snorting employee was a no call/ no show for three days and got to keep his job. Why don't companies start keeping their own bosses in check?

I, as well as others, did give our statements. I could only give statements to one because the other happened after I left the company. But saying it and proving it are completely different things.

Since you seem to know the circumstances of their deaths, I hope you have contacted the drivers family's attorneys. Otherwise you are just part of the problem of corrupt companies.

It seems the older we get we see and hear and learn first hand how cruel people can be to each other.
I am sorry for what you have been through. I recently had a similar experience with my former employer. I had an excellent work record for over 12 years and now can't get a job because my last boss asked good ol boy friends not to hire me as a favor to him. I am national published, excellent evaluations, have done presentations on the state and national level...but I can't get a job. My children and I are going without things we need and many things like Fall Festivals , birthday parties, etc because I have no money.
Just know, I think you did the right thing by quitting your job and I wish you well.

Absolutely! Greed seems to have that effect on people. Truly, in the transportation arena, the laws encourage corruption and cheating.
Currently, most of the pressure and penalties are towards the drivers, not the companies. This allows the companies a free pass to force the driver to be unsafe and illegal, because they don't have to be responsible for it.
Congress needs to act, but so far the only action has been to allow trucks from Mexico to enter the USA. With the dismal safety record of the Mexican trucking industry, we should all review our life insurance policies.

If you have info showing what these companies did you should come forward they are breaking the law I drive a truck and will not go over my hours of operation I may not get 8 hours of sleep but as long as my eyes can rest from staring at little white lines it's all good and I know here in Idaho it's 12 on 12 off I'd imagine it to be that way everywhere

I wonder the same thing. They're happy as long as they're bringing in money - and middle management just craps on everyone and does whatever they want. I always wonder why boss is my boss because I seem to know so much more about management then they do and I just graduated from college.... It's frustrating.

i work for a large chip making company now and i've worked for several large corporations in the past and the reality of corporate america is: the bottom line is the most important and employees are expendable, cannon fodder. i have absolutely NO loyalty to the company i work for because IT has none to me. what is ironic is that those employees who "tow the company line", who belives the corporate BS are SOO hurt when the company lets them go without even a kiss. i believe deeply i "what goes around, comes around", they will get their's in the end.

Wow. That is horrible. The sad thing I have stories myself. (actually, not like these but corruption is corruption).

I have seen mediocre managers or people without management skills get promotion after promotion. It's great they are good salesmen but isn't more required?

I don't know. We live in insane times.

I'll be glad when the ME ME ME generation is gone.

So, if you knew this and had information, why didn't you report this to the authorities.

If the Regional manager said it to these 2, he probably said it to others.

Don't complain, do something.
