The term was created by Mussolini to describe his type of dictatorship. The system allowed for private business to exist but to be controlled strictly by government.

When even a congress decides what you can and cannot have; how much of it you can keep, and what is yours rightfully.
Creation of social intolerance; based upon some new "factoid" that only in it's infancy.
Social policy is the breeding ground for fascism--the concept of individual rights prevents fascism from gaining it's ugly ground in social policies that become law.
It's a philosphy.

Fascism is the form of government that we are now under in the United States. Basically it occurs when large multibillion dollar corporations form oligopolies and even merge into monopolies, and then buy the candidates that they want to serve in office; candidates that will do the bidding of the corporation (consider Cheney, former CEO of Halliburton and the fact that Halliburton gets all of the no-bid contracts in Iraq, New Orleans, etc.).
Basically, you have the government and the corporations in cahoots, and the people have no power or checks and balances over the government whatsoever. Then to make matters worse, the corporations/government gain control of the media outlets (TV, books, magazines, textbooks, newspapers) and they keep people distracted from the main issues so that they (the corporations) can maintain their stranglehold on the government and the people.

A lot of 'isms' that mean an authoritarian ideology. To bring national unity through totalitarianism. It is against all other types of isms that bring free choice into actions. It is also against economic and political Liberalism. Sounds a little like what is happening in the U.S. on the Liberals.
