I know how to remove them, but does anybody know how to PREVENT them? I'm not even using the liquid, I use the sheets. Could the brand make a difference? Thanks!

If you are using dryer sheets, then the stains aren't from your softener, they are probably from your detergent. Next time, try adding the detergent first, then filling the washer up about half way, then adding the clothes. This will give the detergent time to dissolve before you add the clothes. (By the way, the directions on the detergent usually tell you to do it like this anyway).

If this doesn't work, and you are sure the stains are from the softener, then try adding the sheets after the clothes are about 1/2 dry. In my dryer this would be after about 20 minutes, but yours might be different.

Are you sure it's the fabric softener? I've never had this stain any of my laundry. If this really is the problem, then I must apologize, as I have no idea how to fix this.

The one thing that HAS stained my clothes in the past was the detergent. I have found that liquid detergents dissolve better, and don't leave stains.

Is that that light blue stain that gets on clothes some times????? I've always wondered where that comes from.

You know I started using the allergen free laundry detergent and haven't had any static in my clothes. I've used ALL, Kirkland Brand, and Cheer...dont need the fabric softener now.

Could be a cheap brand.
Also, take fabric sheet out when clothes are dry; don't leave it with the dry clothes.

I agree with the one answer it sounds like your detergent. Fill the washer up a bit then add the laundry soap.
