Hospitals (in most circumstances) are required to provide medical care for free or reduced cost when the recipient is unable to pay. Additionally they are prohibited from denying necessary emergency care regardless of the patients ability to pay. Hospitals are not required to verify citizenship during the admission process. This is a good thing as most of us could not prove citizenship at admission as it requires a social security card (they tell us NOT to carry that with us), a birth certificate or a passport.

There is no special program for illegal immigrants.

They don't, they get billed for it, they just don't pay.

Also, legal immigrants don't qualify for government assistance. My husband is an immigrant, and we were going through some really rough times financially when we had our son, I lost my job due to pregnancy complications, and we didn't qualify for anything, because the government counts his income, but he doesn't count as a household member. That is the real problem. He pays taxes, and can't get any help!

Myth. There is no free health care for illegal aliens. Hospitals emergency rooms are required to provide care to anyone who shows up but they also bill you for that care. Believe me, I have been to several emergency rooms and I or my health insurance provider have always been billed. But many illegal immigrants do not pay their bills. I guess anything is free if you just don't pay your bills. But there is no program to actually provide free health care to illegal aliens.

The only free healthcare they get it lifesaving measures at the ER. It isn't like they get free physicals or prescriptions. You can get the same thing too and just not pay your bill if you like.

Because politicians believe that they're be so many of them voting, that it'll be necessary for them to court their vote in order to get elected.

The thing that our politicians don't realize is that if they made it harder to vote (which they are not supposed to do) it wouldn't be an issue.
