I'm just curious if it's only the US paying these outrageous prices. The lowest price per gallon for 87 in my town is $3.15.

Most industrialized countries have much higher prices compared to the U.S., because motor fuels there are taxed much more heavily than they are in the U.S. Typically, gasoline prices in European countries (including Britain, which is self-sufficient in terms of oil, and Norway, which is one of the largest oil exporters in the world) are about twice as high as they are in the U.S. Japanese gas prices are not far behind Europe.

Well let me tell you something, I never ***** at the pump, I am from France and this is how it is over there.
A litter cost 1.17 Euros (add the exch rate=$2)
1 GAL is little more than 3 litters
At any pump in Europe you will pay a minimum of $7 per gallon. This is why I love this good old USA.
It amazes me still, to see people mad about it.

yah, in Europe a majority of the gas prices are like 5-7 dollars a gallon. They tack on taxes to petrol so it gets to be even worse than it is for us. Although, in the Middle East gas is about the equivalent of 50 cents right now. The Cheapest gas is in Venezuela, they heavily subsidize their oil for themselves and it's roughly 14-15 cents a gallon

Here in Paris, we pay about €5 ($7) per gallon.

On the other hand, in oil producing countries like Venezuela they're paying 12 cents per gallon.

Europe, and the US are paying high prices, parts of Africa too. The rest of the world is paying less than two, closer to 1, on average.
