For me, this is yet another reason why I love dolphins so much. This is only the most recent case of them saving a human from a shark attack.

Do you have any relevant thoughts on the subject?

Thanks!

Thruster, I agree with you. Still extra cool of them to fight off a great white though!

Yes, I did know about the "rape" thing. They are the only creatures besides humans who have sex for pleasure.

My love affair with dolphins began several years ago after a tourist boat tour where we were able to interact and feed the dolphins. They were not 'domesticated' or trained in any way. They just knew Cap'n Earl's boat meant food, fun, and attention.

Then I started remembering watching "Flipper" on TV as a kid. I loved it. I LOVED Flipper.
I started imitating their "language" and it is so fun. They probably do not understand anything I say, but they seem to love humans, so they probably just wink to each other and say things back to me anyway. Like 'Goo goo, ga ga'!

I am enthralled by all the rescue and assistance stories involving dolphins protecting or helping humans.

My dream would be to be rich enough to have a facility to have dolphins in a natural-type habitat, but as my pets.

There's just something about them we humans don't know. Maybe researchers will find the connection.

I love them. They always have a smile for you!

I majored in Marine Biology, and I was privileged enough to get to study these animals (mostly Bottlenose Dolphins) in their natural habitat. They are the most amazing creatures! They are so intelligent and friendly. I truly think that it's a travesty that they are not protected. They are smarter and more compassionate than a lot of humans I know.

I just ADORE dolphins, and when I die I want to come back as a dolphin on Puget Sound. Or a whale---yee- HAW! So smart and dear they are.

No, I don't need more proofs... I already know how most wonderful they are... Just love them.

I only wish our government give them more credit. I wish they honor them and make tribute to them as they do to the dog for example. I love dogs with passion and they deserve being honored, specially when they die on the line of duty.
But, do you know how many dolphins die during war time, as it's happening right now? Many of them are trained to disarm bombs and alert us about danger. So many of them are still giving their so precious lives for us also "on the line of duty". Even worse, during war time. It just breaks my heart... They are so faithful, so giving and, when they die for us, no one honor their selfless love for us...
