Physics question?

Question

I've gotta find out what type of electromagnets and radiation are transmitted by the atmosphere and what are absorbed.
I've tried a lot of internet sites, but I can't find one that breaks it down into something simple enough so that i can understand it fairly easily. I can't spend all night on it, which is why I don't want to go too deep into it, but I'm hoping it's a fairly straightforward answer.

So the question is what kind of electromagnetic radiation penetrates the atmosphere and what kind gets absorbed?

First: lets look at the electromagnetic spectrum.
Second: develop an appreciation for the energy of the electromagnetic wave.
Third draw some conclusions
