If it has been mor than a few days since his last BM then you need to think about giving an enema or a suppository - the loger it takes the drier it will be and the pain of passinf a very hard stool could make him want to hold it next time and you will have the same problem again (not saying that he's holding it this time)
Try feeding apples/applejuice - raisen bran (even if you need to add sugar to it to make him eat it, the bran will be worth the sugar added if he is constipated) also you may want to ask your pharmacist about a safe stool softener for kids to make it easier to pass.

Kids always eat sporadically. They go through stages.
However, if you feel his eating habits are linked, then they probably are. You're the mom...you know him.
There are a few questions you need to ask yourself: when was the last time he was on antibiotics?
How long has this been going on?
What are his drinking habits-is he getting enough water?
Does he have other sign of digestive disorders/discomfort?
Here's what I would do: I would put my son on a good probiotic supplement, put him on a wholefood supplement, (open the tablet and mix with small amount of apple sauce it you have to), and get him some slippery elm tea to drink...cool it and add some honey or agave nectar. Slippery Elm helps the digestive track to make mucous so things move easily. You can also give him a belly rub (gentle massage) moving from his lower right side of his abdomen upwards, then over to the left in a straight line about 2 inches above his navel, down the his left side, then over towards the centre by his bladder, and give a gentle push/hold to the spine. Do that 3-4 times a.m. and p.m.
Encourage him to 'go' 3 times a day. Get him a book to look at, or let him have a warm foot bath while he sits. (Small foot stool with plastic tub on it--bubbles---whatever it takes to get him to sit for a while)...
This habit will help him for a lifetime.
Hope this helps,

You should try one of these twosuggestions, but not both at once. Mix half cup of prune juice and half cup of cranberry juice. If no BM in a couple of hours give him another cup of mixture. The other suggestion is mix a tsp of Fiber Sure into some hot coco, or any 1 cup size drink. If no BM in a couple of hours, repeat. Which ever method works, make it routine. Neither is harmful and both have many health benefits.

have him drink a TON of water. it will help w/ the moisture. it also helps w/ the fiber.
also, lay him on his back and rub or massage his belly in a clockwise motion. as in circles moving to his left (your right from above). this can help w/ the flow of the intestines since it is the route so to speak pattern.
apples and prunes can help. applesauce is sometimes better than apples themselves.
another way is to lay him on his back and move his legs in a bicycle pattern...as if riding a bike. it can help loosen what can be stuck.
hope it helps!

He needs to eat something with a lot of fiber in it. Give him bran cereal and apples and prune juice. I have never heard of honey for constipation.

not surprised, honey constipates little kids.
push fluids on him, stuff like pedilyte, and the baby juices, and put a tiny bit of prune juice in each serving.
