I own a 2006 Chevy Malibu, V6 engine, not sure if it is the LT or LTZ model. I have had the car for a little over six months. Last month, I noticed a warning light on my dashboard. The light is located on the RPM section of my dash. It looks like an exclamation point partially enclosed by a U shaped line with ridges at the bottom of the line. The light is only visible at night and even then, the light looks like it is half lit. The warning symbol comes on occasionally and goes off occasionally. Does anyone know what this light means? I have read through my owner's manual several times and I cannot find anything about this odd shaped warning light. Any ideas?

I wish only people who know anything about the problems that are described by people who need some help would answer these questions. You are all wasting time for everybody involved. Now, back to the problem at hand. That sounds like your "Traction Control" indicator. Do you have a button on your center console area that says 'TC'? If you push this button it turns on your traction control for use on slippery road conditions. If you turn it off the light should come on and stay on (but should have a slash mark going through it (like a no smoking sign with a circle and a slash). If the light is doing goofy things it may be indicating a problem with you ABS system, your anti-lock brake system. You should definitely take it to a dealer and have it checked out. Should still be covered under your warranty if you have less than 36,000 miles.

I think that's either a temp. warning light or a coolant level low light. Either way take it to the dealer as these are at least a 3 year warranty.

The symbol you describe sounds like the tire pressure light. Check the tire pressure in your tires. Does it go off after you drive your car for a bit? It will go out when the tires warm up, because the pressure will rise in the tires. (if they aren't severly underinflated) But if the light is that dim when it is on, it almost sounds like it isn't supposed to be coming on. Maybe there is another problem.

2006 Malibu should still be under warranty. Bring it to the dealer.
